Lyrics by Phil Mellows
Stars Tonight was written a few
years ago as an entry for Song for Europe, the then competition to find
the UK's Eurovision song. So, yes, it's supposed to sound like that.
Sadly they changed the rules while we were in mid-composition so it
didn't fit the criteria any more and we lost. At least that's my story.
This demo (as I believe they're called) was cut (see I've got all the
lingo) at a proper studio at Tottenham Hale. It's sung by a session
singer we hired who I think was called Natalie. She was rugby player
Josh Lewsey's ex, I remember that much. So thanks to Paul and Natalie
and the bloke what mixed it. He had dreadlocks and everything.
The Words
The night is ours,
head for the light
This is the time of our lives
Tonight we are like Posh and Becks
Out on the town, as good as it's gets
We are stars tonight, shining bright
We are stars tonight, shining bright, oh so bright
Don't need Big Brother to make our name
Got a little love that'll bring us fame
Don't want to be on someone's TV
Got our own real life reality
We are stars tonight, shining bright
We are stars tonight, shining bring, oh so bright
We're here to party, we're here to dance
Siezing the moment, taking a chance
The darker the night, the brighter the star
Now the world knows just who we are
Don't need to pose for a picture in Hello!
All eyes are on us wherever we go
Don't need McCartney's clothes to wear
We're Stella material just as we are
We are stars tonight, shining bright
Yes, we are stars tonight, and we shine so bright
Oh we are stars tonight, shining bright
Yes, we are stars tonight, and we shine so bright
Stars tonight
Stars tonight
